Overview of SOGE

Join us today!

We Epidemiology Professionals who live in Ghana and/or have Ghanaian nationality, recognize the importance of epidemiology in the prevention, detection, response, and control of diseases and public health crises. We hold the view that our field of work ultimately protects, enhances, and promotes human health, and that every human being, regardless of race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, or belief, has the right to enjoy optimal health. As such, we decided to establish the Society of Ghanaian Epidemiologists (SoGE) across identifiable institutions in Ghana to promote the practice and advancement of epidemiology while adhering to the aforementioned values.

Message from the President

Dear Colleagues, and Friends, It is with great pride and deep appreciation that I welcome you to the official webpage of the Society of Ghanaian Epidemiologists (SoGE). As epidemiologists working in Ghana or of Ghanaian descent, we are united by a shared commitment to advancing public health through the application of sound scientific principles, data-driven decision-making, and a deep respect for human dignity and equity. Our profession is not only about tracking diseases and analyzing trends—it is about safeguarding lives, empowering communities, and strengthening the resilience of our health systems. The establishment of SoGE is a timely and significant step toward consolidating our collective efforts. Our mission is to promote and enhance the practice of epidemiology to support Ghana’s public health agenda and improve health outcomes for all. Through capacity building, technical support, research, mentorship, and stakeholder collaboration, we aim to be a central force in driving evidence-based action and innovation in public health. We welcome professionals from all areas of epidemiology and related fields to join us as we work together to build a healthier Ghana—and by extension, a healthier world. I encourage you to explore our platform, engage with our activities, and become part of this dynamic community. Together, let us champion the cause of epidemiology for the greater good. Warm regards, Prof Ernest Kenu President Society of Ghanaian Epidemiologists (SoGE)
